Well, that’s a few hours out of my life I’ll never get back. After two calls to Verizon and support from the Twitter @VerizonSupport folks, I found out how to keep your Verizon FIOS movies after cancelling or moving.
Here’s the link to the page where your videos shall forever remain, provided you keep a Verizon.com login (be sure to login FIRST using Internet Explorer – sorry Chrome users): https://www.verizon.com/OnDemand/members/OnDemand.aspx?CType=MP&IsCat=false.
Be sure to bookmark the link above.
Here’s Some Background
We had to move when the owners of the home we were renting decided to come back after 6 years rather than sell the house to us as per many discussions we had. Long story short, we had 60 days to move and Verizon did not cover the area we were moving to.
So Verizon has this hard-to-get-to section of their website where your previous movies are stored they refer to as the Multi-Screen Store. Their phone support hasn’t been trained on what this is apparently and will tell you that once you cancel, your purchases are lost forever – or “sorry Charlie”.
If you’re like me, the next step you take is to calculate your losses and raise a fuss, which brings us to the previous version of the blog post you’re on where I wrote an open letter to Verizon FIOS about the nearly $800 we were about to forfeit, followed by a Tweet, which ends us here.
The good news is, you can keep your purchases my friend. Simply use the link above and you’ll save yourself hours of frustration. Happy movie-watching!
